Seeking turbulence optimized configurations for the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator: ion temperature gradient and electron temperature gradient turbulence

We examine the turbulence driven by ion and electron temperature gradients in selected magnetic configurations of Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator. The inherent flexibility configuration space W7-X enables us to find candidate manifesting low turbulent transport. follow insights gained stellarator optimization techniques, order identify key geometric features, which are directly related heat fluxes produced plasma turbulence. One such a feature is flux expansion at locations where curvature particularly unfavourable. Starting from routinely used experiment, we end up with an optimized configuration. Based on this equilibrium, select database similar as one. With help nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations, show that less stiff than initial configuration, both for gradient
